Identification

Male
- Black crown
- White supercilium and black line behind the eye
- Grey back
- White wing-bar on black wings
- Greyish below
- Whitish belly
- Black tail with broad white tips
Female
- White streaked crown
- Rather more buffy and ochraceous than the male
Similar Species
Distribution
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay.
Taxonomy
Monotypic.
Has been considered conspecific with Bahia Antwren, Creamy-bellied Antwren and Ash-throated Antwren.
Habitat
Dry or moist lowland forests, up to 1,100m.
Behaviour
Diet
The diet includes insects and other arthropods.
Breeding
They are monogamous. Two eggs are laid and both parents share incubation and care of nestlings and fledglings.
