- Dicaeum aureolimbatum
Identification
This is a tiny flowerpecker measuring only about 8 to 8.5 cm. A common species in its range but most often difficult to spot. Sexes similar.
Distribution
Sulawesi and nearby islands.
Taxonomy
There are two known geographical variations : Dicaeum a. aureolimbatum found in Sulawesi and the Lembeh, Bangka and Muna islands (the one in the picture)
Dicaeum a. laterale found in Sangihe island.
Habitat
Moist lowland forests and montanes.
Behaviour
The diet includes small figs, berries, pollen and small insects.
