Identification

28cm. Rufous crown, nape, grey breast, brown wings, rufous belly white in centre, red facial skin, black mask, throat and bill. Sexes similar. Juvenile - white face, red brown bill.

Java.

Hill and mountain forests.

Behaviour

The male builds a domed nest from long grasses. 4 eggs are laid.
