Yosemite NP birding spots - Late Sep/Early Oct (1 Viewer)

Fellow birders -

Planning a trip to Yosemite for 4 days end of Sept/early Oct. Wondering if I can get some advice on the best spots/trails to visit for birding, preferably within the park.

Not after water birds but specifically interested in woodland/alpine ones - mountain blue birds,red-breasted nuthatch, woodpeckers, finches, warblers, flycatchers etc.

Any tips most certainly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Came back this past weekend from three days in Yosemite. Great Gray Owl at Wawona Golf Course and N. Pygmy Owls at Glacier Point were our highlights. We were told that we missed Black-backed Woodpecker by minutes at Mariposa Grove, where we saw several species of woodpeckers and sapsuckers. Highlands, near Tuolomne Meadows was not very productive for us, though we saw several pairs of Red Crossbills. Sooty Grouse in the parking lot at Glacier Point.

Very useful. Thank you. Mariposa grove was one of our targets. Will check it out. How about Hodgdon meadow and Crane Flat ? Any luck there ?

vjbirder - We arrived near dusk at Crane Flats and left at dawn the next day so almost no time to bird there. The new bird for our trip was a Pileated Woodpecker on a trail/road that began at the campground. Otherwise the usual campground birds: very bold Brewer's Backbirds, only slightly less bold Stellar's Jays, Black Phoebe near the creek, Golden-crowned Kinglets buried in the evergreens. Our sole experience with Hogdon Flats was driving past them on our way out of Yosemite.
