Yellow Bellied Sapsucker constantly pecking my house with pics (1 Viewer)

This Sapsucker has been pounding away right underneith my window from 6-9 every morn for the past three mornings. I can't seem to scare it away. He's pecking the alluminum siding and its LOUD. This tarp should do the trick.
Edit: The tarp didn't do the trick. He just keeps comming back. I hear a pepper solution applied to the house might work. Anyways enjoy the pics. He let me get pretty close. BTW I'm just outside of Montreal, Canada.

Hi Danny and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum.

My guess would be it is doing its little rat-a-tat-tat to attract a mate. Hopefully it will find one soon for your sake ;)

Hehhe yeah thats what we think too. I live outside the city and the wildlife around here is going crazy becasue of mating season. Actually that's why I'm up so early. He started at 5:45 today.

Hi Danny,

From all the BirdForum Moderators and Administration, Welcome!

We are glad to have you join us in our appreciation of nature, especially wild birds.

Get one of those cheapy pie tins-the aluminum kind- that are flashy with a little sun and a bit of a breeze and put it right where he is pecking. Or one of those streamers that moves with the slightest breeze?????
Hopefully, once this little dude finds a mate, it will be on to bigger and better(for you) things to bang on.

Good luck, welcome, and enjoyed the pictures!

Elizabeth
