Wire Inside Feeder (1 Viewer)

LEVY

New member
Ok, I know someone already asked this question, that is why I found this forum, that question was not answered.

I have two identical hummingbird feeders, one have a wire inside, I left that wire inside and filled with nectar.

What is the reason the manufacturer included this wire?

After a week, the one with no wire was full of ants, the one with wire had not a single ant.

My question is, is that wire to prevent ants from coming to my feeder?

Thank you in advance!

My feeders also came with wire inside the glass Im pretty sure they are for hanging the feeder on a hook or branch, the wire inside my feeders had a plastic coating on them, I dont think they are ment to be left inside the glass or plastic.

I was trying to imagine how the wire was attached or used inside the feeder, but mine also came with a plastic coated wire that I use for hanging it.

Thank's for the reply!

I was also tempted to use it for hanging but I left it inside where it was. Again, the one with no wire attracted a lot of ants, the one with wire not a single ant inside, both where on the same mezquite tree.

I then bought an ant guard for each of them.
