Hi,

Having already asked this question on another forum and drawn a blank, I am becoming intrigued to find out why one of the calls of the Chaffinch is called the "rain" call.

Does anyone know?

Spooky - was thinking the same thing today. I wondered if it was because it was a constant 'drip.....drip....drip'.

was pondering the same question this morning whilst listening to one doing the rain call - just before it started raining! But the other day there were plenty of rain calls and not a cloud in the sky.
