Why do we love birds? (1 Viewer)

Why do we love birds so much? Any answer is correct (scientific, spiritual).

I'll start. I love them because of there endless verity, and because I can only imagine the life I would live if I was one of them.

Bird seem to be highly symbolic creatures. The ability to master 3 dimentions of space is truly envied by humans. I agree with Liz - with their energy and color they are like eye candy. But you know when you look at the architecture of a wing ... seems like it was engineered by somthing divine. I am not a religious man but birds just kind of humble me . - sorry - I am a little buzzed

Firstly, most of them can do something supremely well that we do (even with all our technology) poorly: fly.

On a more prosaic level, birds are popular as a subject of observation and study for a number of reasons. They are, in the main, diurnal and tend to be fairly conspicuous (unlike many mammals.)

They exist (in terms of species) in numbers that are manageable: enough to make it interesting, but not so many that the task becomes daunting (unlike insects.)

Distinguishing species is, by and large, possible - even the most difficult species are 'do-able' (as BF demonstrates!) with experience. Again, it is hard enough to provide a constant challenge, but not so hard that the beginner gives up in frustration and goes elsewhere.
