Why are birds kissing with each other? (2 Viewers)

Are they doing this because they are bored? Are they doing this because they like each other?

Is it true that this behavior comes from the time that the bird was a youngster when they were tapping against the beak of the parent bird in order to give him something to eat? Is the birds' exhibiting this behaviour a continuation, but as for now to confirm and strengthen mutual ties?

Here is an example:

While this is not a site for captive birds or questions about captive birds. birds in the wild, when it looks as though 2 birds are kissing, it is usually one bird tossing over food to the other bird. Sort of a prelude to breeding season.

Thank you for commenting on this subject.

Perhaps I could be wrong but it could also be a sign of safety..

Thank you for welcoming too in this forum by the way.

I have seen a pair of Red-Rumped Parrots 'kissing' in the springtime ......
It was accompanied by soft cooing and trilling. It was very tender and very beautiful. Lovely ..... :loveme:
It didn't involve any transfer of food, just gentle nuzzling and 'kissing' .....

And the world is a better place ..... :t:

Well I thought that I uploaded more ‘romantic kissings' but can't find them; here is one

Humans often seem to think that other animals do not have feelings etc and keep forgetting that practically they share all behavioral traits with many animals. Unless somebody believe that the Earth is 6000 years old their behavior evolved like everything else.
‘Kissing’ can generally falls into few major behaviors; courtship feeding, allopreening, displays etc

Prostitution in nature started long before humans could walk on two legs and become loving creatures showing only love to each other (right?, yes, I know)

Perhaps perversion as well (half kidding)

Look here how some behaviors can be related (parody)

Violence and violent killings are very old additions to love

All of that can be found in humans and be traced to our ancestors ….

Sometimes single photos can be misleading

Cardinal feeding his mate?

I saw this pair of cardinals "kiss" repeatedly at my backyard feeder last year. It appeared that the male was giving seeds to the female. I assume it was some sort of courtship or sign of attachment, but not what we would really call kissing.
