Which laptop to buy for birding (1 Viewer)

If you are going to be using it for editing photos then a big screen is best. Laptops don't lend themselves to having a big screen. If you need the transportability of a laptop then consider getting a combination of a laptop with an external monitor.
My ideal set up would be to get a small screen but high spec laptop, for maximum portability but then link it up to a external monitor, keyboard and mouse for home based desk use. You can leave all the peripherals plugged into a hub and then just have one plug to plug into your laptop.
In terms of OS, I would stick with what you know. If you are have previously used Windows then stick with that, if you have previously used Macs then stick with that. Spec wise, it is all down to budget it usually pays in term of longevity to get the most expensive (within reason) set up you can afford. If you are not going to be gaming or video editing then you can scrimp a bit on video card specs.

I am still looking for the ideal laptop.but so confused.
If I want to use lightroom / photoshop.how much MEMMORY/RAM is the minimum I need.also what size hard drive do I need.
I want be taking thousands of photos..just my weekend walks every week .
So would I need external MEMMORY to store my photos aswell

i asked the same question earlier in the year, a laptop for bird photographs, in the end and after advice, i ended up with a i-mac desktop and its perfect....
very sleek looking (1 power cable no messy wires)
quick load up time
storage 1tb
21.5 screen (far bigger than any laptop)
the best feature i find is that when import your photo then edit it on the macs own editing which i find less complicated than lightroom, it actually keeps the original so at a future date if you found a new or different tecnique it can revert back to the original

Photo editing isn't particularly intensive on resources. Unless you buy a complete bottom of the range machine you will be fine.
The set up I mentioned in the above post would be great, if you desperately just want a laptop then get one with the biggest screen you can. Screen size is everything with video editing the bigger the better, hence my recommendation above.
