What is this American robin doing in her nest? (1 Viewer)

I have this female robin raising her kids on my back porch. She had 4 eggs and at the time of this video 3 or all 4 have hatched.
Two questions:
  1. What is the robin doing in the last half of the video in which she appears to be digging the bottom of the nest so strongly that the whole nestbox shakes? If this matters, the bottom of the nestbox is solid wood. I originally thought she may be pulling insects from in between the twigs but I have seen her do this in the pitch dark of the night when I suspect she can not see? Also, she seems to be exerting much more force than it is needed to do so.
  2. Also, right at the 11th second, you can see her give one of the hatchlings a quick and softer poke. What is that about? :D

It looks like she is eating whatever she is digging up so it might possibly be insectsl

Hi SfromKY and a warm welcome from me too.

I agree with KC.... it definitely seems she is eating whatever it is she's finding.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.
