Famous for Golden Pheasant. The site is very near to the town of Watton. You have to take the A1075 out of Watton towards Thetford. Straight away you will pass a large Tesco store. Keep going along here and you will come to a very sharp left hand bend. Keep on this road and within a few hundred yards you will come to the wood on your left. There is a brown sign pointing into the car park. Slow down as it is a narrow turning into there and there is room for a few cars only.

Once parked up give the undergrowth a good look on the car parks right as I have had the Golden Pheasant there a few times. Out in the woods, don't walk into them as you will disturb the birds. Anyway they just back away and melt into the undergrowth and become invisible. One trick is to find a vantage point at one of the junctions and watch and wait for a bird crossing the ride in front of you. Marsh Tits are very easy to see here and the woods are full of birds so there is plenty to keep you occupied whilst you wait. You may also see one of the few resident Muntjac that are in these woods.

Just a piece of trivia but Wayland Wood is reputed to be the wood in the classic childrens story of the Babes in the Wood.
