The irruption of Waxwings into the UK this winter has been intriguing and it was only time that some would appear in Cornwall. As can be seen by the dates, they don't stay long. Below are reports received so far of the fascinating influx of Waxwings into Cornwall:

Tuesday 7th Dec. Saltash. Two Waxwings at the China Fleet Club car park at 14:00.

Thursday 9th Dec. Truro City Centre. Two Waxwings at 08.30 and 11:30 along St Austell Street at shopper's car park.

Thursday 9th Dec. Copperhouse, King George V Walk. Two Waxwings (adult and a first winter) feeding on cotoneaster bushes.

Friday 10th to Sunday 12th Dec. Wadebridge. One female at Cornwall Farmers. A second bird was also seen at the west end of Wadebridge on Sunday 12th.

Monday 13th Dec. Penzance. Six Waxwings at Castle Horneck Road by the Penzance Auction House. Also one seen at the west end of Penlee Park in the afternoon.

Tuesday 14th Dec. Porthcurnick, Portscatho. One feeding near the car park.

Wednesday 15th Dec. Marazion. Two in a private garden.

Thursday 16th Dec. Lewannick, Launceston. One seen briefly in the morning in a private garden.
