Vortex Vanquish? (1 Viewer)

Does anyone have any experience with these inexpensive binocs? I would love to hear some reviews.

I have the little 8x26. I really like them. Wide-field for a porro, bright and contrasty, very comfortable in the hand with good rubber-grip contouring. Remarkably sharp out to a good distance from centre. Also nitrogen-filled and waterproof (unusual at the price). Probably the most comforable view in a pocket-bino I've used, except maybe for the Opticron Taiga which is about equal. A bit more flare, and a bit less sharp than, say, my Leica Ultravid 8x20, but only in fairly extreme conditions. Perhaps they show a slightly yellow cast comparted to the Opticron Taiga, but it's not a problem. Not quite as bright as the Leicas, but the Leicas cost six times the price of the Vanquish. For normal daylight situations, the Vanquish are a very respectable pocket-bino. If I didn't need teeny-tiny binos for cycling, the Vortex Vanquish 8x26 would be my favourite pockets. For the seventy or so UK quid they cost, they are superb. Also, my eight-year old son loves to use them, and technically they are his. That's a pretty good testimonial, because kids won't use binos that are uncomfortable on the eyes.

That's a pretty solid recommendation. Thanks.

I, too, owned the 8 x 26 versions and liked them a lot for all the stated reasons. The Pentax reverse porros are, to my eyes, a bit sharper with a bit more contrast, which prompted my selling the little Vanquish glasses at my wife's insistence that they were redundant. The Pentax versions are actually a somewhat bigger and heavier (but not by much) and I could easily have been happy hanging onto the Vanquish bins (don't you just love the Vortex high testosterone names?).
