Very early for blue tit nestbox investigations? (1 Viewer)

As per title, they've been at it all morning, seems a bit early to me. My brother tells me they started checking out his boxes before Xmas. Is it early?

We’ve got one roosting in the nest box with a camera. It’s been there about a month.

For the past week or so, I’ve watched blue tits going in and out of the other nest box which doesn’t have a camera.

Not really, been documented for many years as prospecting during January and February though nest construction is early Spring. Both Blue and Great have been checking mine out since before last Christmas though roosting elsewhere.

I have a nestbox cam too, and can confirm that they are often checking for nest sites already in December. I also had roosting Blue and Great Tits as early as November.
