Velbon 607 vs. Vortex High Country II Tripod (1 Viewer)

I am new owner of a Vortex Diamondback 20-60x85 spotting scope. Yes, it is good enough for my needs. I currently own a Velbon Videomate 607 tripod which has served me well for the limited looking at holes in paper and occasional viewing of wildlife, birds, ducks and other waterfowl with an entry level (Simmons 20-60x60) and lighter scope than the Vortex scope that I now have. I am considering gifting the Simmons scope and Velbon 607 tripod to my 11 year old grandson and purchasing a Vortex High Country II tripod that I can pick up for $110 USD new to pair with my new Vortex. In your opinion will the Vortex High Country II tripod offer any advantages in terms of use and stability over the Velbon Videomate 607 tripod? Or, should I just continue using the Velbon and buy the grandson another tripod comparable to the Velbon 607?
