VA senior lady wants birdibg info for Daintree area, Australia (2 Viewers)

Welcome to Birdforum. I hope you enjoy your visits.

You might like to ask in the Information Wanted board 😊

Hi , planning on several days of birding in Feb, 2025 in Daintree area. Would appreciate some info on a guide and some birding lodges. Thanks
Hi Irishgal

No birding lodges as such in the Daintree area.
Doug Herrington one of the best locally based guides:
I've not used a guide up there but everyone that's used Doug speaks highly of the experience!

Murray Hunt 'Daintree Boatman' is a highly recommended / not to be missed trip, which I have done!

Hope that helps

Birding is generally quite accessible up there and doable without a guide on the most part, with some research/ advice from other birders. Not as challenging as the neotropics!
But understand some people prefer a guide in new places.

Cheers

Many thanks for your reply. I will be doing a cruise from Sydney at the end of January and I hoped to spend several days birding after cruise ends. Some time ago I read about a lodge that I thought was in the Daintree area where the owners had multiple feeding stations and great birding walks. Can't find the info. Maybe your recommendation guide can suggest a good place to stay.

Hi Irishgal and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
