It appears that Canon is considering a modern binocular design.

Canon does work with Apple, making components for the Vision Pro, this document suggests Canon is exploring adjacent applications.
I do believe that an electronic binocular that offers wide zoom as well as low light level vision, along with the usual recording and geolocating features, could be a truly superior birding tool.

I would be interested in this but have 3 qualms:
  • What would it cost?
  • How long would it last (both from a durability and planned obsolescence perspective)?
  • I greatly enjoy the connection to nature in birding and putting a screen between me and the nature would kind of dampen that aspect.

It's a kind of derivative of VR headset, and for me it has nothing to do with binoculars.
Walking around in nature with that over my eyes, on my head, lol, no thanks !
