There's a bird nest in my garage. (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone! For the last couple weeks or so, I've been observing the robin's nest in my garage. It is on my bike that hangs from the ceiling. We were surprised that the mama keeps coming back. We obviously can't leave the garage door open. The mama stays on the nest during the night and we close the door. Recently I taped a camara to a long pole, so i could see in the nest. Is this okay? Will the mom abandon the eggs if she sees me doing it?

When it comes to nesting birds, it is really not a good idea to bother them in anyway. It's actually against the law. She must feel safe if she is continuing to return to the nest so I wouldn't push your luck here.

Wow! Against the law? I didn't know that. I didn't mean any harm or anything.

There is no way for the robin to enter/leave if the garage door is closed? If so, it's a wonder that she ever had enough access time to build the nest!

Our garage is always open during the day. Someone is always home. It's nighttime that bothers me. It's been working though. She just sits there all night.

Just remember that the little ones need feeding starting at daybreak so the earlier you get that garage door open, the better

When will the eggs hatch? I found 2 eggs in the nest last Sunday. I don't know how long it takes.

I have a family of sparrows that nests in my garage every year. I have to get up before the sun to open the door for them and make sure they are in at night before I close it. In the summer I just leave it open all the time. They always have their babies hatch and fledge with no problems, so hopefully your robins will be fine.
