Swarovski Warranty (1 Viewer)

Can somebody clarify.
I thought Swarosvki Optik had a 30 year warranty on it's products, but this was reduced to 10 years back in 2015 or thereabouts.
Or perhaps I'm confusing it with Leica.

The reason I ask is because I just bought a 2005 ATS-80 HD but Swarosvki say I will get an quote on the repair. I thought the legendary Swarosvki warrenty meant most of repairs are done for free, obviously baring replacement of expensive parts.

Cheers
Tim

From this page: My Service
  • for products without electronics produced before 2007 (e. g. AT 80), SWAROVSKI OPTIK covers the costs for labor and material for 10 years and the costs for material for 20 more years in case of a warranty repair

Under Goodwill, they should be covering parts/materials cost up to 30 years, but labour is chargeable.

Hopefully the quote will come back as £0

Obviously dependant on the nature of the repair / issue and if Swarovski deems it outside of the warranty conditions. You don't mention what the fault is..... could be down to the user.

In recent dealings with Swaro Customer Service they are definitely emphasising the 10 year timeframe. So my guess is that there is a new internal directive to stick to their obligations rather than carry on repairing instruments ad infinitum. Which I would think is fair enough (and possibly commercially necessary) but might not go down well with those used to the previous approach.

Misty glass inside glass diagonal plus scratched front objective ..

I'll post some pics later

These are the faults..

The fogging is internal so doubtful its down to user. Scratches on the Objective are a different matter.

I would suggest that internal fogging / condensation is a loss of the purged gas system and seals whereas any scratches of the coating and front lens is down to the user ( poor cleaning/ misuse ). It is Swarovski's perogative to decide whether or not the instrument has suffered a knock or otherwise. Usually they refurbish without question moreso when the relevant optic is first registered. I'm presuming you were aware of the issues before purchasing and this was reflected in the price.
Good luck.

My hunch is that they'll clean the scope for no charge and bill you for a new objective lens + time. Keep us posted! :)
Agreed...

I bet the objective is goin be expensive...

Sent Dale Forbes a message. Swarovski are closed over Christmas and were looking at a 2 month turn around fro repair.
I'll send off next year.
Thanks for your interest.

I sent my 15X56 in because of collimation and they pointed out a scratch on the objective lens and replaced it for $100. Seems more than reasonable.

Swavorski warranty service in the US has been truly excellent. Seems they still offer the Lifetime/30 years coverage in NA.

Earlier this year (2024) I sent in a pair of SLC from 1998 for a stiff hinge and diopter drift. They sent them back looking like brand new, clean as a whistle with new armor, eye ups, rainguard, objective covers, & a new diopter knob.

Grand total for the repair was $0.00.

Yes. It seems to be different in the US. They seem to honour the 30 year guarantee..

I'm goin to send mine off in January because there closed for Christmas. The email said I'll be looking at a estimate for repair because the scope is over the 10 year warrenty period, even though it was manufactured in 2005🤔

Cheers
