Swarovski prices? (1 Viewer)

How much are Swarovski scopes/binoculars if one were to buy them in Austria? I know someone that has a relative traveling there and is wondering if there is any price break in buying them there and bringing them back to the US. Thanks.

I don't know about the price difference between Austria and the US but the prices in Austria are higher than the UK so much so that I orders so bins from the UK and had them sent back out here a month or so ago!

Also, keep in mind that Swarovski Optik North America (SONA) will not provide lifetime warranty service for products not purchased from dealers they supply. They have records of all the serial numbers. That would apply to "grey market" optics sold in the US, or products purchased in other countries. So, whatever you save would not be worth it, IMO.

I was in austria last year .I had hoped to get some swarovski stuff .but i found it cheaper to buy here in the USA.
brian.
The same applies to all the other top brands. They are ALL cheaper in the US, compared to Europe. Particularly so, if you mail order them and thus don't have to pay the local sales tax.

I don't think thats true for every brand, some of the euro bins seem cheaper in UK. Definitely seems true for Nikon though.

eg a Leica Ultravid 8x42 is 899 pounds (Warehouse express) which equals at current exchange rate of 1.75 to the pound about 1575 US dollars. This includes VAT I presume.
At eagle optics in US the same ultravid is currently $1695, and thats without sales tax which although no one does you're supposed to pay on your annual state tax form. I notice they have a specific question now and it can only be a matter of time before this becomes automatic at point of sale.

For the Zeiss 8x 42 Fl it is true but not by much. Its $1419 at Eagle optics and $1478 at warehouse express using the same exchange rate.

I'm sure the unconditional USA warranties add to the price we pay.

Thanks, DavidP, for setting this straight. So things seem to level out. It would still be different in my case, as there is less competition in Switzerland.

I had no idea the US was going to do something about the somewhat absurd (though beneficial to many) situation of the sales tax. And living abroad, I did not even have an idea that there might be such a "strange" question as declaring uncontrollable benefits. At any rate, with all the price increases I am glad I filled my major needs, as far as optics are concerned, for the time being.

I've bought a lot of Swaro kit in a shop in Dublin, a city not noted for fair or reasonable pricing, quite the opposite in fact. An Austrian friend who lives here in Ireland, while home for a visit last Christmas, checked out Swaro prices in Austria and found them higher than in Dublin. Bizarre but true. Meanwhile, I've heard you can fly to New York from Ireland, haggle and bargain in the optics shops on Broadway, and get a full set of Swaro kit at a considerable discount to Dublin prices. And a weekend in N.Y. to boot. I can't verify this. For comparison, here in Dublin I paid (over the last two years) 1400 euro for a ATS HD 65mm scope with 20-60 zoom, 300 euro for 30x sw eyepiece, 1500 euro for 10x42 ELs, and 1169 euro for 8x32 ELs. Now I live on bread and water. But I'm happy with the kit, if not with the silly bino bags. Best of luck!
