I have the above binoculars and want to sell them, I am not sure how old they are like-new condition very small scratches only. I see on the internet they might be worth between $400-$500. Please let me know if anyone is interested. Any info would be appreciated

Hi Smac,

Your 10x40 Habicht can be dated to 1984. See a table that I’ve compiled for the regular leatherette production Habichts for the period from 1962 to 1990.
Like yours, they were marked SWAROVSKI-OPTIK TIROL (in a crystal logo), on the left hand prism plate *

In 1984 the Habicht was updated to the current airtight/ nitrogen filled version, which is identifiable by the valve cap screws on the front bridge arms.
For clarification, see photos of two units that are contemporary with yours:
• two images of #173,277 from a 2015 eBay listing by donkey_ears, and;
• an image of #180,835 from a 2021 eBay listing by lona.m.l.p , that clearly shows the valve cap screws.

So as a matter of interest in refining my table, is yours an old or a new model?

* The immediately previous units were marked Habicht (in script) on the left hand prism plate, and later units were briefly marked SWAROVSKI OPTIK from 1990 until 1994, when the current HABICHT marking was introduced.
Examples of various markings can be seen in posts #21 and 24 at: 'RetroPorro' a Possibility says Leica
