swarovski 7.7-23.1mm zoom in PF 65ED??? (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know if this eyepiece would work in the PF 65ED? It is 1.25". Are they waterproof? Thanks.

I'm not sure which of the old Swarovski zooms was the one that was available with a 1.25" barrel under the Meade brand name. The one I still have is the original "long bodied" version from about 1990 in the photo below. There was a later shorter version also made for the ST/AT-80 which is different from my eyepiece and the current 20-60x zoom. I improvised a 1.25" adapter so mine retains the bayonet mount. It requires about 15mm more in focus compared to a 14mm Pentax XW. If the bayonet were machined off so that the 1.25" barrel reached the bottom of the eyepiece housing it would still need about 6mm more in focus, which is the same as the Baader zoom.

My eyepiece does not have an optical window protecting the moving lens elements like the current Swarovski zoom, so it's not waterproof except when it's placed a Swarovski scope.

could you improvise one for the nikon mcii zoom?

ohh wait both mci and mcii zoom fit in the 65 and focus. However mcii is tight to remove, needs a thread filing down a bit.

will have to go try em in the field.....

Borg made a 1.25" adapter for the Nikon Fieldscope eyepieces. I think it could have been recently discontinued, but you might still be able to find one of those.

Hi there...I did own this eyepiece, made by swaro for Meade, when i had the Pentax PF65,..It was my first zoom and it was very nice to use..You can probably find some posts on the eyepiece, since I think i wrote something about this combo a while back...It does not reach infinity at 20X for a hair, but with a small modification(a tiny niche carved in the field stop)this can be solved..Now,I dont reccommend to do this, since this eyepieces are valuable, collectable to an extend, and performance ,if somehow better,is really ,really close to the famous vixen zoom( a clone of the swaro zoom really),that by the way, does focus to infinity at all magnifications...Nor the swaro, nor the vixen zooms are waterproof

That would be the third option: the telescope Borg.

In fact they get it so often they added it to their FAQ ;)

Are "Borg" telescopes from Scandinavia? Or does the name come from the Star Trek TV show?

Borg telescopes are designed and manufactured in Japan. "Borg" comes from a contraction of two Japanese words:

Bo-enkyo- (telescope)
Do-gu (equipment)

This is combined into "Bo-gu" which becomes "Borg" for the non-Japanese-speaking world. But Mr. Nakagawa at Borg also likes the fact that "Borg" is a shortening of "cyborg," which is itself a combination of "cybernetic organism" implying that man and machine are working together as one.

As far as we can tell, the choice of the name was not influenced by the characters from the Star Trek TV series!
