Steve Wing R.I.P. (1 Viewer)

I do not know the author but it is well drafted & it was forwarded to me so excuse my quotation & adding an uncredited picture. I met him a couple of times. Rest in peace.

"What can can I say? The legend that is Steve Wing! Not only a birder, ringer and exemplary warden but an author, builder of the Obs, number 1 Bideford fan, cricket obsessive, rugby nut, moth-er, pond builder, wall builder, quiz master, devoted partner to Mary, tour guide, data analyst, and a genuine human being who lived his best life and touched so many. My condolences to everyone in shock today but what a privilege to have known him and to have spent time in the field with him. He won’t thank me but he was a big Queen fan too. A sad day for us all."

I will happily add the credits. I suspect from the Irish WhatsApp group.

Edit - see below. An excellent eulogy from Dara Fitzpatrick.

All the best

Paul

So sad to hear this news. Steve was, above all, a gentleman - helpful and respectful in all things and with all people.

Among the numerous stays I have done on Cape, one stands out - I was there one early June with my kids, who were quite young and we shared the Obs with just Steve and Mary, there being no other guests. Both Mary and Steve were wonderfully welcoming to us and our few days there that time are still spoken of with great fondness by my children. The warmth of the welcome and the stay was indicative of how special these two people were

They will both be sorely missed.

Steve - Ar dheis Dé go raibh do ainm.
