I picked up the little brother to my MM 7x50. These are a lot smaller. The views are really nice, and the eyecups are perfect for blocking out side light. They will carry great on hikes. They came with the Steiner floating neck strap. I have the bino bib coming for them tomorrow.

A couple pics, and a family photo.

It's amazing how much smaller they are than the 7x50. The perspective in my last photo makes them appear larger than they are.

I spent about an hour on the porch watching Jays, Starlings, and Robins in my yard. A Red Tailed Hawk was circling on the next block. These work really well for birding. The depth of focus thing works really well. Everything was in focus. Only once did I need to refocus when some squirrels were up to around 20 feet away. I quickly put the focus back to where it was and continued watching birds preparing for winter. As it got darker, it was apparent that I have other binoculars that are better in low light, but these do an adequate job in that regard.

I like the stubby build of both the 8x30 and 7x50. The stubby builds fit the hands and balance well. Rugged body cladding too: reminds me a bit of the old Zeiss EDF.
