Sooty Grassquit in Bucaramanga (Colombia) ? (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

My phoot shows a Sooty Grassquit IMO, but it would be a first record for Loma Merchán, which is all right as I already added half a dozen species there, but according to BOW (screenshot attached), it would even be a second record for Colombia!!!

I'd therefore hope to have a confirmation of the ID and more information on the species in Colombia is some of you guys know about it. Is BOW not updated and there are more records or is it really a rare bird ? I've seen at least 3 males and two females in 4 days.

THANKS

Hey Valéry, it seems to be the Sooty Grassquit, I actually have seen it over there before too! I think since it is quite similar to the Black-faced grassquit prople just do not notice it you know? But yeah it is not that rare.
Pod: be aware to the singins.

Regards,
Rafael.
Most probably you're right, it must be overlooked. Thanks.

Not a second record for Colombia as it's in the proves guide where it says "Uncommon', local and nomadic". The map shows it in roughly this area. It says it may follow bamboo seeding
Thank you, yes, I didn't check the book that I know have. You are right.
