Seagull Calls (1 Viewer)

I live in Blackpool and get many seagulls flying around/nesting/perching on rooftops (etc) near my house. I have noticed over the years that the gulls have many different calls that they use - the head-back "shouting", the gentle "mewing", the cute "ba-ba-ba", etc. Does anyone know of a list of their calls and what they mean? Or maybe even the availability of a book/CD?

ps by "seagulls" I'm referring to the common gulls found in most seaside resorts (I'm no expert, but they may be herring gulls?)

Thanks :)

Hi there, i wish someone would answer you because i too would love to know what these call mean. I have noticed when they make the ba-ba-ba noise, more often than not, there's a fox around or kids near their nesting area. Ive never realised before just how many sounds they actually make!
