Robin nest built but unused (1 Viewer)

Hello Bird Forum,

I'm new here so hi to all the members!

I have a question about a Robin's nest in my garden.

Two Robin's have been busy building a nest, rather unconveniently in my pull-out hose which is mounted on the wall. It's a perfect space for a nest as it has plenty of room and is completely enclosed etc.

They've been busy stuffing it with leaves and moss, and it's bursting with the stuff, it's all round too, leaves and moss everywhere.

Now they've done that, nothing! No sign of them, I would quite like my hose back, but don't want to remove the nest if they are going to use it.

They also started building a nest in the spare wheel of my car, which I soon put a stop to.

I know they can build a lot of nests, but how long can I wait to see if it is in fact going to be used by the Robins so I can get my hose back?

Cheers.

Mike.

Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum :t:

Perhaps if there is too much movement around where they built the nest they will move on and try another spot.

I'd give it about a week and if you see no sign of them, I think it would be okay to resume using your hosel Perhaps you could move the nest to somewhere near by that they would be able to find. Good luck ;)

Hi Mike and a warm welcome from me too.

I think KC's advice is pretty good.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.

Please let us know what happens next!
