Hi all,
I will be in Tuscany from September 12-20 with my family before I start my study abroad program in Rome. We are planning on flying into Rome, driving up along the coast to Pisa and probably Cinque Terre, and then heading inland to Florence before we head back to Rome. This will be my first time in Europe so I'm mainly interested in seeing a good variety of species. Orbitello sounds like a must and the Serchio river mouth sounds good too. Will I be able to see Scopoli's and Yelkouan Shearwaters this time of year? Are there any good spots for higher elevation birds like Choughs and Dipper near any of these spots? I won't have a lot of time for birding; I'm hoping to spend almost a full day at Orbitello, but other than that I will probably only have few hours early in the morning.
