Review of a Steiner Nighthunter Xtreme 8x30 (1 Viewer)

Here is the link:
http://www.outdoor-professionell.de/2013/03/test-steiner-nighthunter-xtreme-8x30/

I will re-write this review in english and post it here in the review-section. This may take a day or two.

Please bear in mind, this is my very first review of a binocular and I am not an expert, hardened by years of looking through an alpha.;)
Also, the intended readership is a bit different from this forum.

oetzi,

All you have to do is put the URL to your article into Google Translate and then clean up the "googlish" from the translation. I just translated it with Google, and it's about 80% correct, some words are googlish, some weren't translated and are still in German, and some sentence structures aren't grammatically correct, but overall, it wasn't too bad. I've seen Google do a lot worse on articles. It will save you time.

Thank you for that, Brock.
But I will try to re-write it anyway, since this is a good way to practice english.
Also, it makes it possible to "create" a review for a different readership, that might be worth trying.

oetzi,
Thank you in advance for your own English version. I will wait. Your English is 100x better than those computer things. I am interested to hear about that little Steiner.

I'm interested in this review also. I had the chance to look through a Steiner 7x30 Commander XP recently and was very impressed with the view and build quality. I really don't understand Steiner's pricing in the Commander series however; you can purchase the plain jane version (no compass, etc.) in 7x30 for around 550.00 but the same bino in 7x50 configuration is over a 1,000.00. The 7x30 seemed unusually bright for its size and Steiner claims light transmission in the neighborhood of 98%. Would like to like to compare the 7x50 Commander XP to some of my 7x50s so it would be an "apples to apples" comparison.

A quick thought: Does the Steiner have a metal body? I remember the disaster with the plastic-bodied 8x30 they made for the German armed forces all too well ...
