red berries (1 Viewer)

Today when I came home from work I thought there was blood all over the ground in spots, I thought a hawk might have gotten a bird. upon further investagation I found it was berries from the Cranberry bush. They were laying on the ground all chewed up. What would do this? Are these berries the kind that birds would not like? They sure tried a lot of them before they decided the whole bush tasted the same. Any one else have this happen?

I haven't had a chance to welcome you to BirdForum so hello and welcome!

Are they really cranberries? I thought they grew in bogs. I would render an assumption that the mockingbirds?, robins?, or perhaps cedar waxwings? found your berries.

You have to see my sidewalks when the robins hit the crepe myrtle berries. Everything is purple splats. :)

Robins eat berrys? A Robin perched high in the tree overlooking the feed area just last week. I felt so bad I had nothing to offer it.

The American Robin loves the berries on the Crepe Myrtle trees. I was a bit upset last March when the Robins preceeded the Waxwings and stripped the trees clean. Consequently, I had very few Waxwings stopping by.

My robins seem to enjoy the porridge oats I put out each day, as do the blackbirds. They come down to feed before I am back in the house.
