Hi,

Does anybody know a UK body that might be interested in Polecat records? I found a dead one at Cane End, Oxfordshire yesterday.

Contact your local Wildlife Trust or County Recorder with details.

I'm sure they'd be happy to add your sighting to their databases.

Hi Marek, try this for size:

Vincent Wildlife Trust

"If you see a pine marten in England or Wales please phone 01531 636441"

Founded in 1975 by Vincent Weir, The Vincent Wildlife Trust (VWT) is an independent charitable body engaged in wildlife research and conservation.

Since its inception, the VWT has focused on the needs of British mammals. Current work is centred on the bats, polecat, pine marten and dormouse.

The VWT also manages more than 50 sites in England, Wales and Ireland, most of which are bat roosts.

The Vincent Wildlife Trust is undertaking a polecat survey at the moment so they would be particularly interested. [email protected]. They are after the dead animal if you have kept it - ideally frozen -the date, 6 fig. grid ref. and apparent cause of death.
