Pied Wagtails on Parliament Street (1 Viewer)

Hi Folks,

Is there anyone living in York that knows if the pied wagtail roost on Parliament street is still showing good numbers (as of 23rd Jan 2025)? I know there used to be 1000's in the winter roost, and would be interested to know if that is still the case.

Many Thanks

It's 25 years since I worked in Parliament Street and I remember those roosts fondly, the twittering of the birds was incredible. The trees in Parliament Street have been pruned back since those days and are more compact so they probably won't hold the many hundreds that they used to. It would be an interesting project to monitor the numbers and feed them into Birdtrack so the data is logged. I can remember being told that many years ago a scientific body asked Leeds Bird Club about the impact of the anti pigeon measures had on roosting starling numbers in Leeds city centre. No historic data was available as nobody had been monitoring them.
