Popped into Pett Level Yesterday in the hope of getting a view of the Purple Heron that's been there a couple of days, I've got history with Purple Heron, despite twitching several, I've only ever connected with one!! But managed to see this one, not all of it mind but the head and neck, courtesy of a Marsh Harrier that piqued it's curiosity when it flew over! More pics on the blog at the link!

Great post. I am an old Hastonian and Pett was one of my local patches, used to cycle over all the time. Fantastic in the autumn when they used to drain the front pool. Spent hours watching waders there
