Pale Male....Shocking News (1 Viewer)

I am not sure how many of you follow the saga of Pale Male hawk who has made his home in Central Park, New York for over twenty years.

Last May we were treated to the incredible news that after six barren years Pale Male had become a dad again.

All was looking good for another successfull season. However I came home last night to learn the shocking news that Lima his partner had been found dead. It hit me like a sledge hammer and I do not mind admitting that I was close to tears. Only last week I was thinking that Lima should be laying eggs within a fortnight.

Pale Male own site managed by Lincoln Karim is, in my opinion, the most incredible collection of bird pictures in the world.

However for actual Pale Male discussion I think that the best blog has to be Palemaleirregulars.

Marie Winn's Central Central Park News is also a great resource.

For those of you who do not know Pale Male would do well to read the article in the July 2005 issue of Vanity Fair. It describes how Pale Male came to be the world super star that he is now.

I guess we reminded of our own mortality.

Pale Male loses his mate

That is so sad - I remember reading this story and being so impressed by it.

Do you know the cause of the female's death? Anyone who has followed their story would feel absolutely gutted!
