Went birding this am with the local Richmond and Twickenham RSPB group for the first time. To one of my local patches! 10 of us in all.
37 types spotted ( some had 38!) I missed the 1 grey wagtail among the lots of Pied!
Good time! Very friendly folk...and a couple of v. knowledgeable birders(well more knowledgeable that others!!)
Kingfisher and Kestrel my high lights altho' we heard a Little Owl but no sighting. Some said they'd seen a female KF but we didn't.A large flock (about 50) Long Tailed Tits with Blue and Great and Chaffinch/Greenfinch and Goldfinch whizzing around (do Finches whizz?)
but the female Kestrel had fun buzzing a flock of Goldfinch we didn't see her catch any tho' seemed content to sit in trees..and occasionally buzz the finches!!
Went back on Sunday am and Kingfisher there...no female...didn't see a Grey Wagtail either!(but a good one on Bill Oddie Sunday evening!!!) ;)
