Siberian Nuthatch S. arctica has been split, and I was wondering if we have any images in the gallery of this species. Two Images come up in a search, but they are both outside the breeding area shown in BOTW; does anyone know enough about these to have an opinion on whether the id is correct (irruptions do seem to occur). These images are
thanks

There exist extremely few pictures of Siberian Nuthatch online.
The best (and almost only) ones are these:
Birding Siberia
They show the long narrow bill that appears tilted upwards and other features such as chestnut flanks or much white in the outer rectrices.

The two pictures you found look like Eurasian Nuthatches to me and stem from its breeding range, so I don't think either one is a Siberian.

The long narrow bill with a completely straight culmen (giving the overall bill an upwards slant) was also mentioned in Birds of the World.

I only made a limited research so did not want to make a call, but happy to accept your id.

What has Siberian Nuthatch been split into? It's listed as monotypic... Maybe I've read you wrongly: were you referring to the split of Eurasian Nuthatch as listed in IOC 2.0 ?

I was referring to the split from Eurasian. The Opus uses a consensus system, and did not follow the IOC split.
