Northampton, MA USA - just an unusual mockingbird song? (audio) (1 Viewer)

I'm familiar with Northern Mockingbirds in our area and I thought this sounded different? I heard it faintly from our apartment in downtown Northampton, MA (smallish city) starting around 5:30am, repeating an identical sequence. Merlin and BirdNET couldn't ID it. It kept singing but I couldn't spot it. Hours later we went for a walk and heard it much louder, with the same sequence, a block away in a business area with no trees. We couldn't locate it specifically but it was coming from the top of a commercial building, sounding like it might have been inside a vent? But it doesn't sound distressed. The identical repetition and the quality of the sound don't seem like mockingbirds I've heard - it almost sounded like a parrot or something. Can anyone confirm or deny? Thanks in advance!

It doesn't sound like a mockingbird to me, like you said. The consistency of raucous sounds is very unusual for that species. It does sound like some sort of mimic. I wonder if it could be a myna or some other species? Maybe a parrot is possible, too.

Sounds like starling distress calls and bird of prey calls. Probably coming from a speaker intended to scare away starlings. Bird Gard Pro

I've heard one of these being used and it sounds very much like the recording.
