Nikon ED50 and Cullman Shoulder Pod (1 Viewer)

scampo

Steve Campsall
As there seems to be a lot of interest in the new Nikon scope, I thought I'd post a picture of it attached to the Cullman shoulder-pod. This makes a very useful combination that can be held still easily for long enough periods to be useful. I'd say for woodland use it is the ideal combination. For extended viewing such as at the coast or at lakes and reservoirs, I'd say a lightweight tripod would be better.

The picture shows it with the 27xW eyepiece which, I'd say, is the most powerful that could be comfortably hand-held using the Cullman. In woodland settings, the 16xW is also a very useful eyepiece, as it gives such a wide view, one that is ideal for finding birds in treetops, for example.

Thanks, Scampo, I have the same combo but am interested in the strap - is that a bino strap you have attached? My Cullmann doesn't have a strap, and carrying it around in the hand is a bit risky.

A bit girlie, your pastel bed linen! :gh:
M&S best that is! Very comfy, too!

It's a "bungee" type tripod strap. It goes over the right shoulder and easily allows the scope to be lifted up and used. Altogether it works well.

Beautiful piece of kit Scampo, I must get a set just like this, where did you find it?

The balanced co-ordination is a such a delight to the eye; makes me want to grab hold of it and feel how good it is, I can see the looks of envy on the faces of fellow enthusiasts.

I owned one very like it until one bad day (feeling rather drowsy after several jugs of ale); I fell asleep with ciggy in hand and set fire to it.
How about a couple of more pictures (without the thingy with the strap on it getting in the way).

I disagree with PYRTLE; I don’t think it looks ‘girlie’, rather cool actually, BTW is that a TOG 10 or TOG 13 duvet inside?
8-P

(Sorry Steve, could'nt resist, John)

Who would have thought even a short time ago that the somewhat ailing M&S would resurrect themselves so amazingly well!
