New birdbath being avoided (2 Viewers)

We recently acquired a new birdbath. It’s placed in exactly the same location, it’s the same size as the previous. The backyard birds were constantly in the old birdbath, but we’re now into month two of the new one, and the birds won’t go near it. The previous had a dull brown stone bowl. This one is a bright green/yellow ceramic. Also, the sides are not as sloped as the previous one. The only thing I can guess is the color. I added some rocks to break up the color a bit, and provide another area for them to land/stand – but still virtually nothing. A few will pop down, but then zoom away fast. I’d be interested in any speculation.

Welcome to Birdforum. I can only guess that it might be the colour that’s putting the birds off.
