Moth for ID - day flying, by Farnborough Airport Hampshire (1 Viewer)

I hate micros.... this is however the only moth I've seen this year so an ID would be valued and appreciated!

It was aviating around sallows and willows between the Basingstoke Canal and Farnborough Airport, this afternoon. There's a lot of heathland habitat in the area as well.

I guess it might have been about 10mm long but don't take that as gospel, I could be out a couple of mm either way.

Hi yes this is Acleris ferrugana/notana, probably the latter based on habitat. Hantsmoths is my website and I am the county recorder for Hampshire. John, do you submit your moth records?

Hi Mike,

No, essentially because this is my hobby and it's not particularly structured. I suppose I should: anything that improves the Hampshire database will feed back into my own mothing...

What is the process?

Edit: you asked me about this a year ago Mike but our comms petered out?

Cheers

John
