Miracle Gro (1 Viewer)

I don't have the money
I was wondering if anyone uses Mircale Gro and does it really work? also wondering is it safe....for any wildlife.

They got a new product to cover patches and they say guaranteed to grow anywhere!. I wouldn't mind spending the money on it but is it safe? I am trying to make my garden as natural as possible and some of the grass just isn't there no more. It is really hard to find a feed that does not have moss and weed killer in and wondering if this does not kill moss and weed, already got moss growing and I would like to keep it that way....any alternatives welcome.

AFAIK Miracle-Gro is safe and doesn´t kill moss. I´ve used it, and also the indoor houseplant version, and it really does work. Try the indoor version on a potted cactus-plant, for example. You´ll be amazed how a little tiny cactus turns into a monster western-movie cactus pretty darn sharpish. I think it´s mostly the nitrogen.

If you have moss growing, you have a drainage problem, so killing it without dealing with the underlying problem, won't help in the long run. What type of soil do you have?

Oh and as for Miracle Gro for cactus and succulents, use quarter to half strength tomato feed instead. Trust me, I know someone who supplies Kew Gardens with cacti/succulents. I have an Aloe Vera (well it's my sister in law's, who was going to through it out) that I'm trying to save with his advice, as she had been feeding it Miracle Gro and I thought that had been the problem. It's starting to look better now, but it meant cutting off all the bad bits, totally re potting it and then gentle feeding with tomato feed, after about 4-6 weeks of the re-pot.

Hope you don't mind me saying this, Sancho.

You're going to really upset him ... he's being feeding miracle-gro to his kids for years now ... ;)

Erm, on subject ... personally I don't like the idea of using herbicides and artificial fertilizers. There are 'organic/green' alternatives out there... But are there any truly ethical companies out there? - I don't even really like buying products from someone who produces bad products in a different line - I'm still supporting them and all that goes along with synonomously polluting the environment.

There are plenty of products that don't contain moss and weed killer. I get a slow growing fertilizer so i'm not cutting the lawn every other day 'cos it's gone ballistic as it does with normal lawn food.

I also tried the Miracle Gro patch stuff that you ask about. It cost me £16 and was money totally wasted. Don't buy it, save yourself the money and just get some normal grass seed for a quarter of the cost.

Oops, only just joined and already ruffling a few feathers, sorry! I didn't add that a drop or two of vinegar in the watering can water helps, as well!
