Male and female blackbirds fighting (1 Viewer)

We have witnessed on a couple of occasions in the past few weeks a male and female blackbird actually fighting, the female seems to be the agressor and attacks the male. It is definitely a female, not a juvenile male, can anyone explain this please?

I agree as food is harder to find in the winter months so I guess that male and female blackbirds do fight a bit. Mind you, that said there's a few around here but I haven't seen males and females fighting.

I've seen the same thing in my garden, again with the female seeming to be dominant. I wonder if there is a normal hierarchy between the sexes, or does it just depend on the individual birds?
