Lizards from Turkey (1 Viewer)

Well-known member
Hi,
I have 3 pics of lizards from turkey and need help with their ID.
I think the first lizard is a snake-eyed lacertid
the 2nd I think is a starred agama
and I have no idea about the third

The first 2 where seen on the turkish south coast, and the 3rd in the (toros I think) mountains north of antalya.

Thanks for the help
James

I would say you are correct with photos 1 and 2. Photo 3 reminds me of Italian Wall Lizard (reticulate pattern) although I don't have my field guide to hand. I think Italian Wall lizards are found in some parts of Turkey, although your lizard may be another species completely.

thanks mike,
I don't think it's an italian wall lizard though, it looks nothing like the ones that I've seen before... possibly it's a species not found in europe because my field guide dosn't show much like it...

Photo 1 looks like Balkan Wall Lizard (looks identicial to the ones I see on Lesvos)
Photo 2 is an Agama
Photo 3 - sorry, dont know

Snake-eyed Lizards do look alot like some Wall Lizard species. Snake-eyed have no obvious eye-lid.

Looking in my field guide (Europe only), I agree lizard 3 is not an Italian Wall Lizard. Initially, the photo reminded me of the reticulated form of the species (found in S. Italy, Sicily and Sardinia).

The nearest thing to Lizard 3 I can think of is a Juvenile Oertzeni's Rock Lizard Anatololacerta oertzeni although I am far from sure.

Think thats a good call Mike on Oertzeni's Rock Lizard Anatololacerta oertzeni (juvenile).I had one of those on the Greek island of Symi and it looks almost identicle. No others seem to fit the photo and i have been on numerous data bases with no luck.
