We are planing a trip around Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. The trip isn't exclusive a birds tour but we want to dedicate some days to see: woodpeckers, owls and wild roosters. Can any one recommend us a gide or a good place?

Thanks

The Kemeri Park headquarters near Jurmala ( NW of Riga) has a boardwalk where I have seen White-backed and Middle Spotted. While walking the tracks just the other side of the road from this I have seen Three-toed, Wryneck and Black so I would certainly recommend this area. Time of year is important as all are easier early spring but I've had plenty of success in May

Regards Howard

August is not optimal, but most of the key woodpeckers should be gettable with relative ease in Lithuania, owls far harder at this time of year.
