Took these two pictures of

Leucistic Rockhopper Penguin & Melanistic Gentoo Penguin in the Falkland Islands


Thought they would be of interest to BF members

Interesting birds - I remember seeing other photos of a leucistic Penguin (another Rockhopper?) quite some time ago, but it's clearly a rather rare occurence. One can only wonder if they will survive; especially the melanistic individual (very easily seen by predators from below).

The Gentoo was that years chick so will be a couple of years before it is back in the colony, The Rockhopper had been seen the year before but does get stick from the other Rocky's.
