Leica Apo Televid 77 (1 Viewer)

I have the opportunity to purchase a Leica APO-Televid 77 at a reasonable price c/w a 32x eyepiece.

Some quick questions:

1 How does it compare with the latest APO- Televid 82?

2 Is it still possible to have Leica service it, if needed?

3 How does it perform in terms of Chromatic Abberation and distortion?

4 Is the performance still up there with the competition?

Thanks very much in advance.

I think like most things. You get what you pay for. So, if you can take a look through it in different light conditions and are happy with it's performance, weighing up the price. Go for it.

There are many threads already answering your questions but you will have to spend time searching.
The main issue is that spares for this spotting scope are very few as are independant technicians to carry out any servicing or repairs, apart from Leica in Europe.

Obviously, the latest models from the competition will outperform an APO 77 Televid in many ways, but at a much higher price point.

The really good thing is it comes with a x 32 ww eyepiece. I'm sure there is a very recent similar thread here on BF, though as Ratt says, you get what you pay for.
