Laughing Kookaburra in the Amazon??? (1 Viewer)

The amazing call of this bird instantly conjures images of the rain forest , and it has been used in countless films and programs set in the rainforests of South and Central America .
Yet as I recently discovered they exist only in Australia . Is their a simular sounding Amozon bird or perhaps a close relative , or is it just a popular sound effect for directors to use ??? :h?:

Nothing in South American (I know less Central American voices, so can't comment on that) I can think of sounds like Laughing Kookaburra. The only South American voice that seems to have made it "big time" to the movies is the Screaming Piha which seem to be the standard jungle sound in many movies.

Even more amusing is the panoply of animal species used in films. Captured on film are absolute first and only records just in Africa of such species as Jaguars, Tigers, Indian Elephants, Boa Constrictors, Macaws, Toucans, Howler Monkeys and the list is endless!

No, in South America you get only giant anacondas. In Australia there are crocodiles all over the place... ;)
