Kes Gets Cinema Re-release (1 Viewer)

I saw this first time round, John. A superb film, a bit 'grim' in parts, but also very funny in places (depending on your sense of humour or whether you've been walloped by the headmaster for being in the wrong place at the wrong time...:eek!:)

Reminds me a bit of my own schooldays LOL

Remember this film to and it makes us all think of the close bond we can have with wildlife - an this film portrayed this to a tee

Regards
Kathy

Thankfully it's a re-release and not another bloody 'remake' which are all that seem to be filling the cinemas lately!

Great film and a great book too. Reminded me alot of my school days in the 70's. Some of the teachers and pupils I could relate to aswell. I remember the author Barry Hines visited our school for a talk. Decent bloke imo.

Si.

Watched it at school. Would love to see it again. When is it out again?

It's being released to celebrate Ken Loach's 75th birthday (I would never have guessed he was that age) and was officially released on 9 September, but my local arthouse cinema is showing it towards the end of this month, so you might be best checking your local cinema listings to see when it's on near you.

Another sweet film is the Swedish "Kestrel's Eye" from 1998.
There is no narration, just a Eurasian Kestrel pair going about their business.

In US on Netflix as well.

It will be on at Cornerhouse in Manchester in October which means payign for parking too as i am sure there are no free ones nearby

One of my favourite films as a lad.The Football scene is brilliant, with the PE Teacher thinking he is Bobby Charlton. It might be hard for younger viewers taking it onboard, that schoolboys used to get walloped over the head by Teachers but thats how it was back then.I know from experience..! :-O
