I've only been to North Dakota once, so I'm unfamiliar with the birds there. I think the first picture is a female Bobolink. Does anyone know? I'm unsure who the fledgling is, probably some type of sparrow. Can anyone tell?
Out of interest how are people determining the sex. If the pic was taken recently the birds lose there summer plummage fairly early - I remember seeing basic plummage only flocks as early as mid august.

p.s - If this sounds pedantic I don't mean it to be.

These pics were taken on the 4th of July, so the Bobolinks still had their breeding plumage. What makes me unsure about the fledgling being a BHCO is that I saw few if any cowbirds during the four days I spent there. It is possible, though. Thanks so much for the confirmation on the Bobolink!
